Fashion Shoot for Laurel Lane Ad in Grace Ormonde's Wedding Style Magazine

I was so flattered when Tricia from Laurel Lane Floral Designs picked Alternate Angles to create the images for her new ad in Grace Ormonde Wedding Style Magazine.

She showed up at the gallery in Newport last week with her favorite bouquet, custom designed gloves by Ruth Fischl, and a gorgeous model. She shared a bit of her vision and then let Alternate Angles run wild with our creativity.

Celebrating 2 years in our Newport gallery!

It's hard to believe it's already been two years since we discovered the charming carriage house gallery in Newport, RI. We opened the doors here in May 2006 and hit the ground running. What a wonderful whirlwind it's been! We cannot express enough thanks to the Newport community, our wedding industry vendors, our clients, our friends and of course our families. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for your support, from the bottom of our hearts.

Last night, The Hampshire House of Boston trekked down to Newport with head chef Markus Ripperger and staff to delivery the most delicious spread for our celebration. Let me just say one word, Lobster Ravioli. (okay that was two words, but it was all the buzz last night!) A close second place were our custom logo m&m's. But then again, who doesn't love m&ms?

Special Thanks to:

One of our Favorite 2007 Weddings

Margot & George knew how to do it- from beginning to end. From the stunning bridesmaid dresses, the performing Greek dancers, all the way to the fireworks at the end of the night, they had an amazing day. (Even if their car ran out of gas a half mile from the church.) Thank you for letting Alternate Angles be a part of your fabulous day. Kudos to all involved:
Jason at TPG Videography tpgvideography.com, BeanTown rocked the night with their tunes, amazing dresses by Flair flairbridesmaids.com, All the amazing details taken care of by Wendy Joblon at WendyJoblon.com. This will be an event remembered for a lifetime. :)

York, Maine 3rd Annual Family Portrait 2008

Hooray! Another amazing year in York, Maine creating family portraits at the beach. Okay, so it wasn't exactly "beach weather" this weekend, but we're not ones for complaining. Every round of rain left us with fresh beautiful lighting, unbelievable reflections everywhere and a quiet private beach for the families to enjoy while we created the magic!

April Showers bring...well... Daffodils (to Newport at least)

When I first met Stephen & Jill, I found out that Stephen was a pilot and I just KNEW that I had to incorporate it into their wedding day images. They were game right from the get -go! What a bonus that the weather was perfect for flying, perfect for daffodils, and perfect for their wedding overlooking Newport Harbor!

Lensbabies Gurus Announced

The moment I first laid eyes on the Lensbaby lens, I fell in love! I LOOOOOVE the selective focus, the way everything feels dreamy. Every single time I use it, someone asks, "What's that thing?" as they see me bending the tiny plastic slinky-like lens that's attached to the camera. I bend it all around -squeezing, pushing, pulling, tilting- to find the sweet spot where it's in focus (and usually I,m climbing up or under something to get the perfect angle).

Lensbabies picked Alternate Angles as one of their "Guru's" along with 19 other professional photographers working worldwide. It's so great to see how each photographer is using their lens... there are so many cool and talented photographers on this list, I am humbled to be among them! Check them all out at http://lensbabies.com/training-center/gurus/

Alternate Angles wins another PPAM award!

I am flattered to have been awarded another Court of Honor from the prestigious and competitive state association, Professional Photographers of Massachusetts. PPAM is an association which annually holds a competition for all the professional wedding and portrait photographers in the state to show off their work. The competition is fierce and there is a lot of nail biting as the photographers watch their images being judged by a panel of national judges. It is an honor to be recognized by my peers.

The award winning image, seen above, is of Margot and George Kalkanis from their wedding in Marion, Ma.
